This Princess Diana Beanie Baby is a 1st edition. There are no spaces on the swing tag in the 2nd and 3rd line of the last 4 lines. Red Star Ty Logo is on the Tush Tag. No number inside the Tush Tag (later editions had a facility ID printed inside Tush Tag). Tush Tag states PE Pellets. This beanie baby possibly contains PVC Pellets since this is the 1st version. Ty was in the process of switching over to using PE Pellets. Some websites state that the 1st version actually contained PVC Pellets even though the tag states PE Pellets. The change was made because of of the Greenpeace protest during the New York Toy Fair to stop the use of PVC pellets in toys for children. Only 12 Princess beanie babies were distributed to each Ty Dealer with the first release. This Beanie Baby belonged to my great grandmother who was a large collector of Princess Diana memorabilia. She was also a large collector of Ty Beanie Babies. This 1st edition Princess Beanie Baby has always been kept in a clear case with tag protector. This is a new, unused Ty Beanie Baby “Princess Diana” bear. It comes from a smoke-free, clean environment. It has been preserved in an air-tight, sealed container until it was removed for this listing. Ty Beanie Baby “Princess” the bear was announced on October 1997 & issued in December 1997 as a charity release for the Princess Diana of Wales Memorial Fund. All of Ty Inc’s profits from the bear were donated to the fund. The Princess Beanie Baby was retired on April 13, 1999. This bear is unique in that is does not have a birthday like most other Ty beanie babies. IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT “PRINCESS” THE BEAR. Made with PE pellets. Embellished with White Rose and Green Stem. “Handmade in China” with the No. 450 stamped in red. Red Star Above and to the left of the “Ty Heart” on tush tag.
